How I can help
Web Design
I specialise in modern, mobile friendly, web design for start-ups & small businesses in Northampton (and beyond) that need results fast.
I have 20+ years of experience helping SMEs launch, grow, and refresh their online presence.
I carry out original design, ongoing updates and training so you can update your own content if you wish.
Brand Development
I can secure your perfect new domain name and help you create your brand, from logo design and email signatures through to email campaign management.
Search Engine Optimisation
Every web page deserves to be findable on search engines, so I configure and maintain your Search Engine and AI Optimisation to keep your site front and centre.
I recommend the Squarespace platform for new website projects as I believe it offers the perfect balance between ease of use and function.
Design Style
Web design has been around for a long time, and we’ve seen design trends come and go.
We’ve all seen hyperactive sites that have impressive animations and 3D effects but take ages to load and don’t really say anything.
And those ‘low-contrast’ sites with grey writing on a pale background to look arty and moody but end up being totally illegible?
I’m a big believer in SIMPLICITY
I will always listen to what my client wants, of course, but I like to take the best bits of design cues from over the years. Here’s what I think works best:
1) Simplicity
Never overcomplicate things. No more pages than you need, only one or two fonts, a carefully chosen colour palette, that kind of thing.
2) Black text on white background
(Mostly!) Keep the contrast high and easy to read. I love colourful text too, but only taken from that colour palette.
3) White space
Plenty of space between design elements keeps a page uncluttered and easy to read.
4) Quick to load
This means well optimised images and not too much custom code.
5) Mobile friendly
This one’s a must. A site has to look good on any screen size.
